Archadeck of Columbus chosen for Cougar 100

I grew up in an Ohio State Buckeye family and never miss a chance to put on my scarlet and gray and take my boys to a game. But I have another allegiance to the University of Houston. I met my lovely wife Carol there and wouldn’t trade my time at the University of Houston for the world. That’s why we were both thrilled to find out that Archadeck of Columbus has been chosen as one of the companies in University of Houston’s first ever “Cougar 100” list.

The Cougar 100 celebrates the top 100 fastest Cougar-owned or Cougar-led businesses in the country. The University of Houston has a number of very strong academic programs and is rightfully proud of the more than 4,000 companies worldwide that are owned or led by its graduates. It’s very exciting for me (and Carol and the rest of the Archadeck of Columbus staff) to be named to the top tier of such an esteemed group.

More importantly, this award has given me pause to reflect on the success that my wife Carol and I have had here in Columbus. When I returned to Central Ohio after being away for a decade or so, it was almost like I had never left. As with most small businesses, I got started with the help of friends, family and neighbors. We continued to build and grow with the help of generous customer references and a business community that fights back hard when it meets tough challenges. I appreciate everyone’s support and I thank you all for helping us achieve this honor.

I began my association with Archadeck in 2001 when I was working for a subcontractor that Archadeck of Columbus was employing for patio installations. I had been working in the Landscape/Hardscape industry for quite a few years at the time and immediately noticed a difference in how Archadeck operated in comparison with other deck companies that we worked with. Over the years of working with Archadeck on numerous projects, large and small, I came to realize the importance of what they were selling; beautiful designs, top-notch craftsmanship and a world class customer experience. This is what drove me to start working for Archadeck in January of 2011 and eventually buying the company in 2016. My wife, Amber, and my son, Logan, could not be happier to be a part of such a wonderful organization.
